We desire to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ crucified.

From him and through him and to him are all things.
To him be glory forever. Amen.

(Romans 11:36)

FRIDAY NIGHT STUDENT MINISTRY

I am Trevor Nicholas and I am on staff with the student YMCA at CPUT (The Cape Peninsula University of Technology), Cape Town (District Six) campus. I work with Rob Walker (the director) and David Cloete. Our mission or motto is: “To teach students to follow Jesus for life.”

This means that We reject all sacred versus secular divides and practise an integrated and wholistic approach when reading and applying the Bible. Student ministry is exceptionally strategic as it entails reaching tomorrow’s leaders today! How we do this is through 1-on-1 discipleship, small group or lunchtime Bible studies and teaching in larger group contexts.

As staff (full-time) we have unparalleled access to students and are able to ‘do life’ together. Furthermore, all three of us have been theologically trained and equipped for this dedicated task. The ‘Y’ as we are commonly referred to is interdenominational and this is where Doniwen Pietersen comes in. Doniwen is the interface between The Y and Holy Trinity Church (REACHSA). Doniwen is the student chaplain. I am the contact person for Friday Night Y at HT. I therefore work closely with Doniwen to make our weekly social happen at the church. Friday nights are a partnership between Holy Trinity and The Y at CPUT. Most Friday evenings during term, We meet together around a meal to have wholesome fun and to hear from God (through His Word). Our curriculum covers a range of topics such as guidance, marriage, money, recycling, sex, stewardship, time management etc. Please pray that the Lord Jesus will continue to use this ministry to turn unbelievers into believers and make weak Christians strong.
