How to have a really good day
Solomon considers the unpredictability of circumstances in this life, and that they favour no man, whether they be righteous or unrighteous. The ultimate event is death, which most certainly happens to everyone alike. Verses 12 to the end observe how that can come unexpectedly to all alike – like fish caught in a net, or birds in a snare. Life simply does
not run in accordance with our expectations of predictability or fairness. In the middle of the sandwich structure, in verses 7 to 11 he reflects on how then, should we live?
